May 25th was the official launch of Global Chamber® Trinidad and Tobago. Emcee Wendell Constantine began the proccedings and US Embassy Public Affairs Officer, Stephen Weeks, welcomed guests to the Embassy. Deputy Director John Ruman kicked off the speeches with a recap of the Chamber's first event, a Global Conversation with Global Chamber Tokyo. Executive Director, Dr. Ty Richardson then shared the journey to launch the Global Chamber in Trinidad and Tobago, followed by feature speaker, President of InvesTT, Racquel Moses. Global Chamber's first member, Shares Trading Group CEO, Sheldon Powell described his reason behind being the first member and Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce CEO, Catherine Kumar closed the proceedings encouraging everyone to be global. The Sino-US Regional Economic & Trade Cooperation Qingdao Forum and the Opening Ceremony of the Qingdao Center for Business and Commerce in USA (QCBC USA) was held in San Francisco on May 17, 2016. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, Qingdao Mayor Zhang Xinqi, Luo Linquan, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, local executives, and senior representatives from leading companies from Qingdao, including Haier, Hisense, and Tsingtao Brewery, were in attendance. 20+ MOUs and agreements were signed during the successful Forum. The new QCBC USA is dedicated to boosting investment and trade between the US and Qingdao to create growth opportunities and to forge a cooperative partnership, as well as serving to increase Qingdao’s international presence. It also functions as a workstation for overseas talent exchange, which has established preliminary business ties with local government agencies, trade associations and major enterprises. The GCSF looks forward to working closely with the QCBC USA to promote cross border trade and investment opportunities between Qingdao and SF Bay area. International students from South Asia, SE Asia, mainland China, the Middle East, and the SF Bay Area convened for an inspiring evening of networking and learning at Sofia University in Palo Alto! The GCSF's first International Student Symposium was sponsored by Nanyang Technological University - one of the leading universities in the world,uBegin.com, a collaborative online platform and community that facilitates positive change projects, and Sofia University, a dynamic learning community and university offering various advanced degree programs in psychology, computer science, data science, and business administration, based in Palo Alto.
